Alex to star in the opener of Doctor Who Series 7?

The Doctor Who team returned to shoot more scenes for the series 7 opener this week.
They have been filming behind closed doors in the studio, however, some Daleks were sighted.
A pic shows the New Paradigm Daleks alongside the Russell T Davies-era models. We knew they were coming back, but it’s good to see some visual evidence.
With Alex Kingston recently back on set, there have also been rumours that River Song might be making an appearance in the opener, as well as episode 5. Perhaps the Daleks be begging for mercy once more?
The next filming block will start shooting soon with the Chris Chibnall-penned fourth episode expected next. New companion Jenna-Louise Coleman will also shoot her very first episode in May.

Alex Kingston spotted filming Doctor Who!

As our exclusive picture shows, the Tardis has definitely landed in Llanelli!
Following a hot tip that there was a Time Rift in the Llanelli area, our intrepid reporter was sent to investigate. He didn't have to travel far, just up the road to the Box Cemetery.
There he found the battled damaged Tardis and the Doctor and companions busy trying to save the planet!
The Tardis, Matt Smith as the Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, Arthur Darvill as Rory and Alex Kingston as River Song are filming part of the new Doctor Who series in the cemetery today.
So who is the Doctor battling in this episode?
Look at the picture, but be careful not to look away, as you can just about make out the body of a Weeping Angel. Sadly, the storyline just like the Weeping Angel was being kept underwraps but we all hope the Doctor triumphs again.

Alex Kingston has been annnounced as joining the line-up for the 11th hour Doctor Who convention in June, along with other guests including; Matt Smith, Frances Barber and Simon-Fisher-Becker. The event takes place in Birmingham on the 15-17th June 2012.

New Who Companion announced!

Former Emmerdale and Waterloo Road actress, Jenna-Louise Coleman has been announced as the new Doctor Who companion who will join the show during the Chirstmas Special, after Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill leave the show during the seventh series. When asked about the Pond's departure, Steven stated that 'Amy and Rory will leave in the fifth episode that goes out. It will be a final encounter with the angels and not everybody gets out alive – and I mean it this time.'
Jenna is also due to star in the new ITV drama about the Titanic, which will air this Sunday on ITV1.

Matt Smith on DayBreak

Matt Smith appeared on DayBreak this morning talking about the seventh series of Doctor Who and claimed that he wouldn't be leaving the show 'anytime soon'. When asked about the rumours that Benedict Cumberbatch would be joining the show as The Master, he claimed he was unaware of any such rumours and joked that Benedict was 'far too busy' being a Star Trek Villain along with his lead role in the BBC drama, Sherlock. Who News: Benedict Cumberbatch to play The Master for 50th Anniversary?

For many fanboys and girls it would be the dream pairing – Doctor Who and Benedict Cumberbatch.

So the rumour that the Sherlock star is to play the Time Lord’s arch enemy The Master as part of next year’s Doctor Who 50th anniversary output will raise some goosebumps.

Doctor Who insiders say Cumberbatch, 35, is being lined up for the role and is likely to take on Matt Smith’s Doctor as the show celebrates its half-century in 2013, according to The Express.

“It’s fitting that the Doctor comes face to face with his ultimate enemy, The Master, for the 50th anniversary and it’s felt Benedict is the perfect choice if schedules can work,” a source told the paper. “Fans will love the idea of the man who plays Sherlock Holmes taking on the Doctor’’.
